Class will begin with a technique warm-up that focuses on anatomical alignment & awareness. Participants will be led through a series of exercises in Fines’ distinct movement style rooted in release, her training in Cunningham Technique, and Pilates. The warm-up is designed to prepare the body, and to establish a solid technical base to facilitate moving with freedom, confidence, and clarity. We will then travel across the floor, learn movement phrases that challenge participants’ technicality, movement dynamics, and patterning, and at times, engage with guided scores and improvisations.
Level: Intermediate/Advanced

AMPLITUDE premieres on September 20th and 21st, 7:00pm at the James and Martha Duffy Performance Space at Mark Morris Dance Center as part of TWO DANCES with Emily Kessler/POGO. PURCHASE TICKETS
AMPLITUDE combines movement and visual design into a collage of human experience. Five performers shift through states of joy, isolation, levity, effort, intimacy, and connection, suggesting a mystery that is just on the edge of being revealed. Blending Western dance forms with experimental task-driven material, the performers manifest a layered world of unfolding relationships.
AMPLITUDE is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. AMPLITUDE was supported by a 2024 TOPAZ Arts Residency, a 2024 Groundworks Residency, and the ‘For the Artists!’ 2023 Residency Program at MOtiVE Brooklyn.
Join GREYZONE’s Artistic Director Lindy Fines for a workshop series exploring the movement and development process behind GREYZONE works. AMPLITUDE, a GREYZONE dance created by Lindy Fines in collaboration with performers Katerina Belmatch, Chisato Yanagisawa and McCall Atkinson, combines movement and media to create a collage of human experience. The performers shift through states of joy, isolation, effort, intimacy, and connection, suggesting a mystery that is just on the edge of being revealed. While deconstructing and reprocessing classical shapes, the dancers’ vulnerability will be exposed and become a mirror for the audiences’ own humanity. Performed at CROSSROADS series at the 14th St Y Theater curated by Pioneers Go East Collective. Donation based, RSVP here.

Class will begin with a simple yet technical warm-up that focuses on anatomical alignment & awareness. We will prepare the body with a series of exercises that source from Lindy’s movement style which is rooted in release, as well as her training in Cunningham and Pilates. The goal of the warm-up is to find a solid technical base and grounded-ness through the lower body in order to be ready to let go with confidence and clarity. From there, dancers will learn a phrase from GREYZONE repertory, and we will finish with explorations into guided choreographic scores and improvisations that Lindy is currently using for research.
For professional dancers, space is limited and preregistration is required.
